Craziness!!!!!

This week has been crazy for our girls, which means crazy for me! Kieyera had an audition for a Musical Theatre class she hopes to take next year. She has been working hard to prepare, on top of all her after school practices for "Seussical the Musical". She loves drama and theatre. She is excited to perform in the musical in March. McKilee has been working hard for months to prepare for Dance Company auditions at for the new high school. Clinic and tryouts were held this week. The results are in for both McKilee and Kieyera.

Kieyera did an awesome job at her audition. The song she performed was "Someone Like You" from "Jekyll & Hyde. She felt really good about her performance. She had to wait until today to find out the results. "She made it!" "Yeah!" She couldn't be happier. We are so proud of her for all her hard work and dedication. "Way to go Kieyera!"

Today also happen to be tryouts for Dance Company and Dance 3. Clinic was the day before. McKilee worked her butt off(not literally)! Things were better with her BFF by her side. McKilee and Alyssa have been in Advanced Dance together this year. They both were trying out and hoping for at least Dance 3. McKilee really wanted Dance Co., but would have been pretty happy with Dance 3. Basketball is Alyssa's main "Love", so she was great with getting dance 3. Of course, she wouldn't have been disappointed with Dance Co., who would?

Here is McKilee and Alyssa after they performed the routine they learned at clinic. It was time for first cuts to be made. They each had a number that they were identified by. They are hoping to hear theirs. McKilee is #54. Alyssa is #19. Push play to see the results!

Yah, dancers feet aren't usually pretty

The girls went back in front of the judges to perform technique. A couple different forms of entertainment took place while waiting for the signal to go home and wait for results The first was a VERY LARGE circle of "Down by the Banks".

The second form of entertainment was a duet. Mckilee and Alyssa playing parts from "High School Musical 2". I'm warning you now, it may not be pretty.

The results are in! A long day of waiting and hoping!

Ultimately, everyone got what they wanted. Mckilee made Dance Company. She is so thrilled. There were over 140 girls that auditioned. Many were very experienced and came from dance programs from the other high school. Only 28 made Dance Company. Mckilee was one of the lucky few. She really has worked so hard, for many months now to make this audition. Alyssa was right by her side to congratulate her. McKilee commented to me later"Mom, Alyssa is a TRUE friend, she was genuinely happy for me." Today was one of those days where as a mom, you get to smile. After teaching your children to work hard for what they want, they get it. It feels good! Congratulations!
